Do I need a referral or doctor’s note to see a physiotherapist or chiropractor?

No, you don’t need a referral to book an appointment at our clinic. The only exception is if you are coming in for post-surgical rehabilitation, we may require a note from your surgeon or physician for clearance. Please note that while we don’t require a referral, some insurance providers may ask for one in order to cover your treatment.

What will my first appointment look like / what should I expect?

At your first visit, you’ll start by filling out some intake forms so we can better understand your health history and concerns. After that, your provider will take you into the treatment room and begin with a full assessment. They will diagnose the issue, discuss treatment options with you, and create a personalized care plan. Your first appointment will also include your initial treatment, so you can begin your recovery right away.

How much will treatment cost, and does insurance cover it?

The cost of treatment depends on the type of service you receive. For insurance coverage, every plan is different, so we recommend checking directly with your insurance provider to confirm your benefits and eligibility.

What kinds of conditions/injuries do you treat?

At the Back and Body Wellness Centre, we help patients with a wide range of concerns. Our team of physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and other providers work together to treat:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Sports injuries and sprains
  • Work-related and motor vehicle accident injuries
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Joint pain (shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, wrists, etc.)
  • Sciatica and nerve-related pain
  • Chronic pain and mobility issues
  • Pelvic floor issues
  • Postural imbalances and everyday aches

How long before I’ll see improvement / get better?

The timeline for improvement varies depending on your condition, its severity, and your body’s response to treatment. Some patients notice positive changes after just one session, while others may require several visits to achieve their goals. Your provider will discuss a personalized care plan with you and give an estimated timeline based on your specific needs. Consistency with your treatment plan and any recommended home exercises will help you get the best results.

Is the care safe / what are risks or side-effects?

Chiropractic care is generally considered safe when performed by a trained and licensed chiropractor. Most patients experience relief with minimal side effects. Some people may notice mild soreness, stiffness, or temporary fatigue after an adjustment, which usually resolves within a day or two. Serious complications are extremely rare. Your chiropractor will review your health history, explain the treatment, and tailor care to minimize any risks.

What techniques or treatment methods do you use?

Manual therapy, exercise therapy, soft-tissue therapy, chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, modalities (e.g., ultrasound, TENS, BioFlex laser), and other evidence-based techniques tailored to your needs.

Where are you located / what is your availability?

We are conveniently located in Surrey, BC. Our clinic offers flexible appointment times to fit your schedule, including weekends and late evenings. For the most accurate availability, please call us or book online.

What makes your clinic / practitioner different / why should I choose you?

We have been in the healthcare service for the last 22 years serving Surrey, BC and local communities. Instead of offering just one type of care, we bring together a team of experienced chiropractors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, and acupuncturists under one roof. We stand out with a team-based, personalized approach. Our experienced practitioners focus on safe, effective care to help you recover faster and feel your best.

How do I prepare for treatment / what should I bring?

Wear comfortable clothing, bring any relevant medical info (imaging, referrals, medications), and arrive at least 10-15 minutes ahead of your appointment time.

What is your treatment plan for me (number of sessions, duration, frequency)?

Your treatment plan is personalized based on your condition, goals, and response to treatment. Typically, 1-2 sessions per week, 20-40 minutes each. We reassess regularly to track progress and adjust as needed.

How easy is it to schedule or change appointments / how flexible is your availability?

We make scheduling simple with flexible appointment times and easy options to reschedule or adjust as needed to fit your busy schedule. We are open 7 days a week and have late evening slots available.

What will the clinic’s environment / staff / facilities be like?

Our clinic is welcoming, clean, and comfortable, with a friendly, experienced team ready to support your care. We have modern equipment and private treatment rooms to ensure professional and relaxing experience.

Are there any guarantees, re-assessment points, or metrics for tracking progress?

We cannot guarantee specific results, as every patient heals differently. However, we do regular re-assessments to measure your progress, adjust your treatment plan, and track improvements in pain levels, mobility, strength, and daily function.

How do you coordinate (if needed) with other healthcare providers (GPs, surgeons, specialists)?

When needed, we communicate directly with your family doctor, surgeon, or specialist by sharing reports, progress notes, or imaging results. We believe in a team-based approach, so your care is consistent, safe, and well-coordinated across all providers.

How many sessions will I need, and over what timeframe until I can expect to see improvement or be better?

The number of sessions depends on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and how your body responds. Some patients feel relief in just a few visits, while others with more chronic issues may need several weeks of care. We’ll outline a personalized plan at your first visit and reassess regularly to track your progress.

What credentials / specialization do your practitioners have (e.g. experience with my specific problem, relevant training)?

Our team includes licensed chiropractors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, kinesiologists and acupuncturists with specialized training in musculoskeletal conditions, post-surgical rehab, sports injuries, and chronic pain. Many have years of experience treating patients with problems similar to yours.

What is your cancellation / rescheduling policy?

We ask patients to provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer the appointment to someone else and helps keep our schedule running smoothly.

If my case involves ICBC or WorkSafeBC (or other claims), what is required of me (what documentation or referrals)?

For ICBC or WorkSafeBC claims, you’ll need to provide your claim number and relevant accident or injury details. In some cases, a referral from your doctor or claim approval may be required. Our team can guide you through the necessary paperwork and documentation to ensure your treatments are covered.

What results can you guarantee (or reasonably promise), and what is the risk / what are possible complications or limitations?

We cannot guarantee specific results, as every patient heals differently. However, we do regular re-assessments to measure your progress, adjust your treatment plan, and track improvements in pain levels, mobility, strength, and daily function.
