Kelly is a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. Kelly holds her Masters in Counselling from the Adler School of Professional Psychology and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. She has been passionate about Psychology her whole life. Why people do what they do fascinates her. Through her educational and professional journey she has learnt so much about human behaviour, so much about psychological reasoning, and so much about existence. Kelly’s theoretical orientation is Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She teaches clients skills to change irrational thoughts to rational thoughts while paying attention to how this is making them feel and behave differently. Her main priority is to provide a safe space for her clients to speak freely without being judged. She understands how body pain and injuries can cause mental stress and fatigue, therefore empathizes with client’s concerns, fears, anxieties and sadness. This is why Kelly’s passion in life is to make a small positive difference in all the lives she touches hoping for a ripple effect of love and compassion to be spread throughout the world. Kelly wishes to empower all the souls she meets into believing that they have control over some aspects of their psyche and this control is the key to changes in their lives.
Kelly chose to be a part of back and body wellness centre as she truly feels that an holistic approach is very much needed when dealing with psychological stressors. Psychosomatically, what happens when we have too much psychological stress, it starts to manifest itself in our bodies, for example, in the form of neck pain, back pain or headaches. Working in a clinic with chiropractors, physiotherapists and massage therapists allows for this body ailment to be addressed in the same clinic, and vice versa. This blend of practices allows for the client to maintain overall health and wellness.
Clients will enjoy the brand new building the clinic is at. The clinic staff is very welcoming and friendly. Kelly likes working in this clinic as all the professionals have their own autonomy, however, can come together as a team to see what further treatments are best for the client. It is this warm and caring atmosphere that drew Kelly to the clinic. Kelly has been a part of the team for a short while but she is enjoying working in a safe, calm and Zen atmosphere!
